Herpathon
The
Herpathon
is a 12-hour intensive volunteer survey designed to
identify
amphibian and reptile
diversity and distribution within
Michigan's
unique urban landscapes. The goal is to provide much-
needed
data for areas where
surveys are limited or nonexistent. Past
Herpathon
events have
been held at Belle Isle in Detroit and
Humbug
Marsh on the
Detroit River. This data has been provided
to
the MDNR Natural Heritage Program Herp Altas project as well as
the
USFWS Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. This
information
will be used to aid in assessing the distribution and diversity
of
reptiles and amphibians as well as aid in management strategies
for
species at those sites. Also, this event is intended for volunteers
to
